Pitch ladder

Step toward your target one note at a time.

How to do it
  1. Hum “mm” or sing “ah” on the note shown.
  2. Hold it until the step turns green, then move to the next.
  3. If a step feels strained, stop there. That’s your top step for today.

What it should feel like: The same easy buzz on every step, never pushed.

Why this helps

Moving pitch in small steps is a gentle way to shift it. ASHA describes clinicians using vocal function exercises to safely shift the pitch range, and warns that changing your voice without guidance can lead to strain, so stop at any step that feels pushed.
